Lahore: A newlywed couple had their wedding photo shoot on the grounds of King Edward Medical University (KEMU), drawing criticism after the university management allowed them to operate at the institution.
The issue surfaced when photos and videos of the wedding were uploaded to social media, showing the 150-plus-year-old KEMU building in the background. Clips and photos show the couple visiting hallways and other parts of the historic building to film “wedding activities.”
People trolled university administrators on social media, saying KEMU was neither a “tourist attraction” nor a wedding photo shoot location. They also criticized the poor security arrangements as the newlywed couple could breach the public medical college’s security, as they commented on what would happen if a “suspect” broke in. . KEMU administrators focused on photography.
A spokesperson for the university said they were not asked for permission to shoot by regulators, and claimed the couple and photographer entered the university after it closed.
“Security guards were found to be involved in their intrusion,” the spokesperson said, adding that the administration is also investigating CCTV footage for further action.
